The Hot IQs were a Denver staple on the local music scene that scratched the surfaced on the national scene before breaking up. I guess we’ll never know what would’ve happened had they stayed together. What we can say with great certainty is that lead vocalist of the defunct trio, Eli Mishkin, has joined forces with Jeffrey Wentworth Stevens (morriconez, wentworth kersey, george&caplin) to create LONG E, short e. Not much is known at press time, however, the first single, “Unlike a Machine,” a sweltering hard driving track that does an exceptional job of exploiting Mishkin’s baritone vocals that sound as if the dark recording was done in a cold basement. According to their site, the duo promise more singles in 2013. Let’s make a live show happen soon, guys.
