the Weekender ::: New music from Catcall // the National // Summer Camp

the National ::: Fillmore Auditorium ::: 10.18.10

These three day holiday weekends are such a tease. Why can’t all weekends be three day weekends? Hopefully most of you got out of town or got out of the house to enjoy the beginning of what summer will have to offer later next month. C=T has you covered with pieces you may have missed while away. Like a new track from the National for the HBO series, “Game of Thrones.” I haven’t committed to watching this show, despite having the makings of everything I look for in a show. Who knew that the series needed a soundtrack and you would’ve thought it would’ve been released prior to season 2, however, it appears that the tunes will come after the end of the second season. Look for the accompaniment to be released June 19. Thanks to Under the Mag for the heads up.

Catcall has decided to give away her summer anthem, “the World is Ours.” The sugary pop tune comes from the Aussie’s latest album, “the Warmest Place,” which plays like a collection of anthems all set for your nearest swimming pool party.

Lastly, we have a second track off of Summer Camp’s forthcoming “Always” EP in the shape of the track, “Always.” If the first tracks (listen to the first sample if you missed it over here) are any indicator of the rest of the EP, methinks this is how the debut album should’ve sounded. Look for the EP via MoshiMoshi on July 9.
