The package of Cut Copy, Washed Out and Midnight Magic was done so well that the room in the back bar was not existent. The lush quiet sounds that I was use to from the patron saints of Chillwave, Washed Out, didn’t sound so quiet live. The full band created a quiet roar on stage that played a lion’s share of “Within and Without” from the recent Sub Pop artist.

Cut Copy made their fourth visit to Denver easily selling out the Ogden and bringing the magic from “In Ghost Colours” to a crowd that was high on “Zonoscope.” Last night made me a believer in their new record and how it was interpreted. I had dismissed “Zonoscope” because of the lack of the readily available dance tunes I was accustomed to in exchange for hard to swallow experimental cuts. I’m a convert and though, “Zonoscope,” isn’t my favorite CC album, the release has grown on me. It appears that the guys had been listening to Can and Fleetwood Mac on repeat. Lead singer Alex Frankel has grown into his shoes as a charismatic frontman leading the dance revolution on stage. The night came alive when “Lights and Music” and “Saturday” left the Ogden floor in ashes.
