Amy Winehouse RIP (1983-2011)

I will forever be indebted to Amy Winehouse and her brilliant voice. My wife and I tend to have musical views that clash more often than not. Aside from our love for Rock en EspaƱol, Amy Winehouse is the first artist that we could both agree. We both felt her vocals were unmatched and she had one of the most talented artists we had ever seen. The two of us were fortunate to have caught her at the Fader Day Party during SXSW 2007. It was a rare appearance because she didn’t do much touring that would’ve landed her in Denver. She ended up winning 5 Grammy’s for her “Back to Black” album and was the toast of the SXSW 2007 festival. Nobody was certain if she was going to comply with any of her appearances during SXSW and it was a last minute thing that she showed up. Things were looking bleak last month when she got booed off of stage for showing up out of sorts that’s so obvious in the video below. Thanks, Amy, or proving again that music can bring people together. Thanks to Pedestrian for the heads up on the MIA and Big Boi tributes. You can also read a touching tribute from Russell Brand over here.
