The recent news about Coachella making the festival over two weekend has me curious for a number of reasons. Aside from the money aspect, the only other reason I could see them making the festival two weekends is for the sheer fact that there’s such a strong Latino presence Indio that they could fuse some big name acts and blend them in with electronic acts or use some bigger acts that would normally play on top 40 stations across the country. The “jumping the shark” factor comes to mind, and does making the festival over two weekends make the event less relevant? Will other festivals follow suit, i.e. Lolla or Bonnaroo. Some of these festivals are already spacing out the festivities over four days, which seems a bit overboard. I know by day three, no matter how great the lineup is, fatigue and edginess has set in and the countdown begins to when you can take that much needed nap on the plane ride home.
