The British Invasion landed on East Colfax last night when SXSW 2011 darlings, the Vaccines, swung by to open up for UK lads, the Arctic Monkeys. The opening slot suited the Vaccines well due to the size of their catalog. In the 28 minutes that they played to a sold-out crowd, the lads managed to pummel their respective instruments and left the Ogden Theatre stage unrecognizable. The quick two-three minute songs played rapidly and furiously not leaving much to discuss aside from the several whispers littered throughout the crowd asking, ” Why haven’t I heard of these f*cking guys?”. The most curious aspect of their live performance was the sound of a jubilant Irish bar band, despite being from England. Their debut album , “What Did You Expect from The Vaccines,” is out today and you can purchase it here.

Wow, awesome pictures! I definitely wish I was there…after buying their new album, I must have listened to it 20 times non-stop! I also found a great interview with them while they were at SXSW: http://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2011/05/best-of-whats-next-the-vaccines.html
