I started watching SNL by accident. Rewind back to around 1988 or so, and NBC use to play WWF’s “Saturday Night’s Main Event” right after the local news. Destiny would have me watching “Hanz and Franz” getting me pumped up by accident and the rest is history. Fans will always complain about the show no matter what cast is running, giving it a “chasing the dragon” type feeling. The Lonely Island is my modern day “Hanz and Franz” and the casting of obscure 80’s musicians in ironic situations is amusing. Have they used Kenny G yet? Might be food for thought. One thing I do know is that Kenan Thompson needs to be used often and frequently. He’s not in enough skits. You can purchase the Lonely Island album, “Turtleneck and Chain,” here (May 10th release date). I always get Ellie Goulding and La Roux confused, but curious that both have been cast as musical performers within the last couple of seasons. Ellie Goulding’s voice is more melodic and can stand on it’s own whereas La Roux’s style leans heavily on the beats. Goulding performed her chart-topper, “Lights,” and went the opposite of KE$HA’s performance on SNL.
