Maná has spent the last five years holed up recording their latest album, “Lluvia al Corazón.” That sounds about right, considering that they spend about three-four years touring behind each effort. They’re the biggest Spanish rock act around (Rock en Español) and the Mexican equivalent of U2 to put things into perspective. I saw them in concert in 1996 in Juarez at the Plaza Monumental; a defunct bull ring that is now the home to Wal-Mart. Seriously. It was one of my first concert experiences and regret not being able to remember much of that night. The fact that we were in the middle of the bull ring watching the biggest Spanish rock acts. Ever! They were ascending to the peak of their prime and remains as one of the most surreal music going experiences I’ve ever had. They were supporting “Cuando los Ángeles Lloran,” and haven’t missed a beat since. “Lluvia al Corazón” is out everywhere and for you lucky NYC kids, you can catch them tomorrow, Wednesday April 13th, at an in-store over at J&R 23 Park Row #4 at 6PM. According to Billboard, we can expect an arena tour soon!
