California made their presence known last night when tour mates Best Coast and Sonny and the Sunsets swung by to play two rollicking sets.Sonny and the Sunsets may have stole the thunder from “Best New Music” recipients Best Coast, but perhaps it was too close to call. The Sunsets’ snare drum kept my foot tapping for most of the night and the late 60’s Zombies meets Velvet Underground too cool for school vibe was successfully captured live. Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino celebrated her birthday last night sporting a Burger King crown on stage while tippin’ a bottle of Moet. How else would you celebrate your birthday? Best Coast blazed through a short, sweet, and concise set of their latest album, “Crazy for You”, and some of their 7″ ‘ s. Best Coast collaborated with Weezer and you can read more about it here.
