After being out of town for the last couple of Westword Music Showcases, I was finally able to attend this past weekend. I would like to congratulate the people over at Westword for making fantastic use of the parking lot behind the DAM (Denver Art Museum) for the main stage area. I hung in there for as long as I could and here is my day in pictures. Some quick observations: City Hall is WAY UNDERUTILIZED! What a great venue, inside and outside areas. Especially the outside area. I didn’t realize it was that spacious. The only turn-off is that the stage is awkwardly set There’s tons of potential! Best bar makeover for the Showcase: Vinyl’s soundsystem is only rivaled by that of Beta’s, but hot damn did Jonathan + BPro sound amazing! By the way, Air Dubai maybe the next big thing you hear on FM. They have a mass appeal to them that connects with a lot of people. Their FM ready sound and a more sultry version of the Roots is perfect for these hot steamy days.
