Spain’s throwback to pop romanticism is alive and well with La Bien Querida. The Spanish songstress, Ana Fernández-Villaverde , vocal delivery comes close to whispering poetry instead of singing and the hints of Spanish guitar & cajón flamenco that drizzle their new album on Nacional Records, “Romancero”, ties up all the wonderful elements that had escaped the Spanish pop scene for so long. The album would sit well as the soundtrack to a Pedro Almodóvar piece in one of his beautifully shot films that capture the gorgeous Spanish landscape that we’ve seen in so many of his films. You can purchase their album here.
