The stars were aligned perfectly for the Knew’s CD release party of their newest album, “Pulpería”. The faith in rock and roll that I had lost for quite some time was restored and the sloppy bar band I was expecting to melt collective faces still melted all parties involved, but one funny thing happened at the show. The Knew sounded cohesive in ways that I didn’t anticipate for them to unleash their new material. I was expecting a rollicking , knee-slapping time, and that’s what we got. But in a way where the lead singer takes gulp of whiskey, only to spit it back out into the crowd. Lead vocalist, Jacob Hansen did no such thing, but his falsetto vocals hit every right note as guitarist Tyler Breur did his best to keep up with his vocal range. For you lucky kids going to Austin next week, make sure to look for them at SXSW!
This show fucking ruled. Straight up rock n’ roll is my favorite kind.
I’m pissed that I missed all the openers. Great lineup all around.
My fucking neck still hurts from this awesome show and its Monday already…I had a great time! The Knew is on their way up the food chain.
