Broken bells

I’m not gonna lie. I was mildly annoyed that Danger Mouse was working with somebody else and that the Shins split up rendering the rest of the band jobless (except for James Mercer). After multiple spins of the forthcoming album, I’m hooked. I can’t wait to catch them on tour (hopefully the announce more shows besides the Austin, NYC, LA shows).

  1. Hey first up. Nice little blog. I come on here now and then and there is some good stuff.

Wanted to make sure you know that not all the dudes in The Shins are “jobless”. Dave Hernandez (Flake Music, Scared of Chaka, Broadcast Oblivion and The Shins original and then final bass player)has a great new band called Little Cuts. He has gone back to his more rock n roll roots and it’s amazing low-fi greatness.

I also didn’t want to like Broken Bells but I have to tell you that I am sold on it. Might be the soundtrack of summer 2010:)

    Keep up the blog stuff.

  2. You’re right. Not jobless, but I meant life without the Shins. I imagine it was a comfortable lifestyle while it lasted.

  3. ahh. sooo excited for this album to come out. i love the idea of james mercer and dangermouse collaborating! this one’s going to be huge….!!

  4. Streaming the whole record on Myspace right now and I’ll be honest. Not all that impressed. I might have to give it a few more listens or maybe get a little high before it really hits. I guess I was hoping for less space man and more pop. We’ll see.
