Western Vinyl alum’s, Sleep Whale, have released their album Houseboat this week. Their album is what their name implies. Houseboat plays like dreamy landscapes across empty East Texas Plains (the group is from the booming musical hotbed known as Denton, home of UNT) that weave in and out of musical consciousness. It’s what you would listen for in a “Modern Western” type movie where small dirty tornadoes swirl in the staggering sun . When not stirring the pot of ambient music, the group dabbles in experimental folk with mild crooning. The Texans will be playing an early Hi-Dive show tonight. Show starts 8:30. More info here.
