The day that hair-bands died and grunge music prevailed is a day I will never forget. I can remember when MTV started showing Nirvana’s “Teen Spirit” in favor of Skid Row’s newest video or Poison’s newest HAIR BALLAD. I wasn’t very keen on the Seattle scene, although there was that Temple of the Dog video where Soundgarden and Pearl Jam collaborated to go “Hungry” that I always liked. Something about Eddie Vedder’s voice always rubbed me the wrong way. The raw, raspy delivery was always a mystery to me. I’m almost twenty years late, but I think I’m starting to understand why people have been in love all these years. The band performed at Austin City Limits last month and you can watch the performance , here. Ben Harper sits in on “Red Mosquito”, so watch out for him. In celebration of the performance, I found some live Pearl Jam from six years ago.
