I don’t know if getting a Best New Music from P4K is like the curse of the cover page from Sports Illustrated where said athlete gets injured. In the case of music, any upcoming albums are accompanied by backlash or irrelevancy.The kiss of death for any artist. Neon Indian is coming in at a time in music where new wave inspired artists are suffering from a “dead cat bounce”. You wouldn’t know it by the turnout for yesterday’s Neon Indian show. There was gossip amongst the crowd. “I heard that Neon Indian is going to Paris for Fashion Week and they’re playing Karl Lagerfeld’s show”. The buzz surrounding a show of this magnitude is half the fun. The energetic set culminated with the nonchalant demeanor from Palomo made for a great aesthetic that captured the band’s fire.
