Elvis Costello & the Roots on Jimmy Fallon

Photobucket

One of the best things about Late Night with Jimmy Fallon is his house band. Never in a million years would I have thought the Roots would have taken him up on his offer to be his house band. Sure it’s a guaranteed check, but for a band that is known as being road warriors, it was a bit of a stretch. The mashup of nightly musical guests that collide with the Roots has been a proven winner and the show continues to excel with Elvis Costello and the Roots performing “(I Don’t Want To Go To) Chelsea)”. Did you know he was banned from playing on SNL for years because he started the intro to a song he was programmed to play and switched in the intro to another song. I guess they didn’t like that much then. So it’s kind of funny to see him these many years later being the house band for another show. He was also on the Colbert Report – a very funny guy!

That’s crazy. I had no idea about the ban. Funny how things change…
