Two albums have helped me out in my time of hibernation from the cold.
They have warmed me up in ways much like the tea and coffee combo I’ve been downing for the last couple of days.
The Middle East aren’t really from the Middle East (go figure). The Aussies had split up for a while before they put out their EP, The Recordings of the Middle East, but they put their differences aside and put together a small collection of quiet lullabies that will want to make you fall in love, fall out of love, and reconnect. They started out making Christian music, but don’t hold that against them. You can purchase their EP, here.
The Middle East – Blood
Texas troubador, David Wingo, will be releasing his forthcoming Ola Podrida album titled, Belly of the Lion, Nov 10th via Western Vinyl. The minimalistic approach taken to the recording was one taken to heart. The album was recorded in Wingo’s apartment and echo’s of personal “what if’s” and “maybe’s” that are drizzled from beginning to end. The familiarity of the album is like a pair of old slippers that is always welcomed but with the comfort of knowing what you’re getting yourself into. The album’s swan song is “Your Father’s Basement”where Wingo reminisces of a time when the major concern of any rambunctious youth is getting busted drinking from your friend’s parent’s stash. You can purchase the album, here.
