In case you missed it, today is national Beatles day.

There are several projects all converging today. The remastered catalogue of the Beatles will be out in Mono and Stereo today. Twist and Shout will be playing the catalog through a $40,000 sound system compliments of Listen Up and yummy cupcakes from The Shoppe. In honor of the release of the remasters, I have a lithograph of the picture below to giveaway to a random winner that can tell me who the “Fifth Beatle” was by sending your answer to: [email protected] . If all this remaster business doesn’t get you all hot and bothered, you have the release of the Beatles: Rock Band edition released today, available everywhere. Here are more details about the Twist and Shout shindig tonight:

Twist & Shout and Listen Up Present: Beatles 9/9/9

An Extraordinary Listening Party/Event Beatles 9/9/9

The Beatles classic studio albums have been remastered, repackaged with replicated UK album art and expanded booklets including new and original liner notes, rare photos, and for a limited time, each disc will be embedded with a short documentary film about the album. Two new box sets (loaded with tons of special features), one in stereo and another in mono, are also part of the series which will be available on September 9.

Twist & Shout is partnering with Listen Up to present Beatles 9/9/9 on Wednesday, September 9 from 6-8 p.m. In order to get the full impact of what these re-masters sound like, we’ve invited Listen Up to bring in some amazing stereo equipment so that we can play the old albums and the new re-mastered versions for all to hear. Listen Up is bringing a $40,000 B&W/McIntosh super-duper stereo system (!), amazing headphones and a flat-panel HDTV to show the Rockband video game. This will seriously blow you away! This will seriously blow you away! We’ll also be serving food and drink and will encourage people to bring their favorite Beatles memorabilia for show & tell. We will pick the best and award the owner a pretty cool banner that we’re getting from the label.
**For this day only, we will be selling the single CD remasters for 9.99**

I always thought that Rockband or Guitar Hero games were kind of gimmicky, but the trailer looks AMAZING!

One of my favorite SNL skits where Chris Farley interviews Sir Paul McCartney.
