The Dead Weather brought their rainy and stormy front to Denver last night. Too bad that the nice cool breeze outside didn’t find a way of making into the Ogden last night. It was nice to see Jack White sporting a leather jacket in the humidor. Upon learning of the new band, I couldn’t wait for the album to drop. I listened to it from start to finish and thought I had missed something. All the right parts were there, but it sounded like they were trying to put in a square peg in a round hole. The recording was too polished. Last night was a punch in the face that I wasn’t expecting. I left the show with two black eyes and wanted to come back for more. The raw energy that fueled the room made everybody forget that they were packed tighter than a joint rolled by Willie. All that you would have expected on the album, came full circle on stage and as maniacal as Jack White is on his axe, much doesn’t change behind the drums. He pulverized them with reckless abandon , whereas Alison Mosshart, didn’t seem as much of a heroin junkie with her new band. Her ravenous voice sounds more disciplined and not as messy as it sounds when she performs as part of the Kills. I guess rubbing elbows with a pro will do that do you. My faith in rock n’ roll has been restored.

  1. One of THE best live performances I’ve seen. I didn’t even mind the rain …do they know they have a roof leak?
