Japandroids ::: Hi-Dive ::: 07.21.09
So that saying about good things coming in two’s, well, it happened last night.
The Vancouver duo obliterated the mangled Hi-Dive stage with one guitar and drum set. The guys plowed through most of their most recent album, Post-Nothing (if you haven’t picked up this album yet, do it), and played some new tunes, while ravaging the crowd’s ears in the process (in a good way). A couple of times during the set, some of the licks were a bit self-indulgent (expected) , but not too distracting. The local openers, the Getdown, had a DFA 1979 thing going on. The duo utilize a bass and drums as well, and have great potential. The drumming was a bit slow, but definitely room for improvement.
