My favorite Chilango duo is coming out with a new album on ATO. The acoustic junkies will be releasing their forthcoming album, 11:11, Sept 8th and will go out on a small tour to support the album. I’m kind of surprised there are no Led Zepellin covers on the album. More from ATO:
ATO Records is excited to announce that Rodrigo y Gabriela will release their new studio album, entitled 11:11, on Tuesday September 8th. 11:11 was recorded in Ixtapa, Mexico and produced by Rodrigo y Gabriela, with John Leckie co-producing two of the tracks. The album was mixed in Wales and London by Colin Richardson, best known for his work with Slipknot and Trivium.
Comprising 11 new original compositions, 11:11 is the band’s personal “Gracias” to 11 musicians, both past and present, who have inspired them along the way. Alex Skolnick of metal gods Testament guests on the album, as do widely respected acoustic veterans Strunz & Farah.
11:11 is the long awaited follow up to their 2006 self-titled debut which has so far enjoyed worldwide sales in excess of half a million albums.

Modest Mouse will embark on a Summer tour that will bring the guys back to the area. I’m a bit hesitant saying this, but maybe the addition of Johnny Marr wasn’t in the best interest of the band. Or perhaps it’s all the expectations of being on a major label that has messed with their chemistry. Just sayin’.

Last year’s Dj set at Cervantes hinted that great things were on the way for The Juan MacLean. Juan created an inclusive disco, electro and classic house with more live instrumentation which features Whang on vocals, alongside a drummer and synth player. The most clear evidence of this is the single “ One Day” but the highlight of the night was the 15 minute version of “Happy House”. It was definitely worth calling in sick the next day.
