There’s something going on with Mexico’s Pepepe and Cyanè. I don’t know if it’s something that’s in the non-potable water or perhaps one too many Paloma’s, but the results are exceptionally hazy. Like one of those mirage’s in the desert that seem to be too good to be true, the album, Roba Orgòn de Plantas y Animales, plays out if you were to mish mash the Books, RJD2, and the Microphones. The results are inspiring and create a perfect soundtrack to these lovely Spring days. The female vocals from Cyaneè are reminscent of one of my favorite Mexican singer songwrtiters, Ely Guerra, but with a dreamier voice. The kind that young boys here in their daydreams. You can download the album in its entirety here.
These guys love Denver. New tour and new album! Thanks to Douchebag Face for the heads up. Read more here on the album deets.

Vivian Girls played one of my favorite shows of the year this past month and XLR8R caught up with them. It’s kind of funny to see them getting excited about Domino’s Pizza, because everybody I know hates Domino’s. I wonder if they’ve tried one of those Pasta Bowls (for the record, they look like ass). Either way, it’s a good interview and pretty insightful.
The Phoenix show is coming to Denver late next month and I’m getting excited just thinking about some 1901 in my face. In the meanwhile, the duo sat in with the Alternate Side to do a couple of new tunes and a strange older tune that I thought was written by somebody else. You can listen to the session here.

Japandroids is touring in support of the über loud album, Post-Nothing. The duo from B. C. are clamping down and making everybody succumb to their one guitar and one drum set and if you haven’t listened to their latest album, you can purchase it here. This probably doesn’t makes sense, but they sound a lot like a band that would have been on those old MTV 120 Minute Compilations. Ahh, good times.

The beautiful beast that is the “Day Out of Time” in Colorado just keeps on growing. FLYING LOTUS has been added to the Red Rocks bill to cap off this extraordinary line-up.
