Don’t let the harsh voice of Lissy Trullie intimidate you. She’s dainty and melodic and her vocals are a mesh of two of my favorite 80’s female singers. Imagine if Chrissie Hynde’s voice got together with Blondie’s voice and they made a baby. That baby would be Lissy’s voice. The 70’s inspired guitar leanings ala Tom Verlaine create a false sense of tormented moodiness because of her soft grimy voice and infectious lyrics. The live show shaped up to be better than the recorded EP’s that are currently being promoted. I’m happy I finally caught up with Lissy because at SXSW I had heard the music from afar but wasn’t able to stick around. Great show all around and the true star of the night’s lineup (Anya Marina and the VIrgins).
