HOTTUB ::: Bluebird Theater ::: 04.08.09
HOTTUB is a trio from Oakland, who have LA faces and Oaktown booties, played a set with a joie de vie that incorporated an eager crowd and turned the front area of the Theater to an impromptu set of Soul Train. The trio looked as though they had dressed themselves in the dark and got busy with the Halloween face paint, but the aesthetics only played into their joyful manner onstage. Their music is a Lisa Lisa Cult Jam meets Salt n Peppa and a perfect opener for the Tings Tings.Their energetic performance created mass havoc and created such a stir that I wondered why I had never heard about them.
