I’m not what you would call a lover of their music, however, Kasabian has a free download of their single, Vlad, the Impaler. Now to the real reason I’m posting this, their video for the single has all the makings of a great 70′s B movie. You can download the single here.

Upon first listen of Little Boots, I became instantly smitten by her sounds and demeanor. I watched her video of Stuck on Repeat in my small office cubicle over a dozen times. Her smashing performance the first night of SXSW was a resounding success , culminated with a Giorgio Moroder cover that would eventually set the crowd ablaze.

It was one of those moments where you walk into a venue and you already can feel a good vibe being put on a by an unknown band. I rushed the stage with wreckless abandon to find the stage filled with three girls that looked like the escaped the island from Lord of the Flies. Their music dictated otherwise, where 21 year old music whiz, Micachu layed down here grimy tribal beats for everybody to see, and what a sight it was to see.
The newest crowned jewel to join the A&C family played an early Onion Party their Jet Black album that has the makings of beautiful pop record that the record company is known for putting out. The addictive album has the elements of what makes Star so brilliant, the unapologetic pop hooks, intuitive songwriting, and addictive earworms for songs. In even better news, the group will be coming around the bend on tour this Spring.

After many missed opportunities, I have finally gotten a chance to see one of DC’s best! The group plays like a rollicking bar band without the abrasive chicken wire for protection. The guys played to a hillbilly crazed crowed and the stage was smaller than the band. It contained them a bit, but the guys played a very appropriate Tom Petty cover, American Girl, that sent everybody into a mass frenzy. The night was a resounding success and make sure you catch TUS on tour.

He-Haw came alive Friday night in the form of the Hollyfelds. The Denver group have taken the last name of one of the characters from one of my favorite 80′s movies, Real Genius. The weird creepy guy named Lazlo Hollyfeld. He lived in the dorm closet of the main character and came in and out as he pleased. The group scores immediate points for that alone. The group didn’t go the route of 80′s music, but instead, they went the way of Lorretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, and the Kentucky Headhunters. The group will be releasing their EP, Black Heart Blue, and they will be having a release party this Friday! (photo cred: Gigbot)
