I really wanted to go to this show, but I had a wedding to go to. My friend and your friend too, Castro, was able to go (unfortunately, he missed White Denim and according to my friend Josh, they kicked ass) and caught the TNT action.
Tapes ‘N Tapes-Anvil [mp3]
What can only be described as a bad first date, it was clear to see that the Tapes ‘N Tapes buzz created two years ago at SXSW has finally fizzled to an end. For some reason or another they did not seem to win the crowd over until the last two songs of the night. It was a little too late for the decent size crowd who was competing with Atmosphere at The Gothic and M.I.A. at The Fillmore. I missed the openers White Denim and judging by crowd reaction, the crowd might have been drained by the Austin rockers. Lead man for Tapes ‘N Tapes Josh Grier tried to keep the crowd from dozing off by playing a strong second half with a few crowd favorites. All in all I would rate this show a C-. It makes you wonder if bands run out of gas on their last night of the tour. In this case Tapes and Tapes should have topped off the tank in Salt Lake City. Here is the set list from last night: Jakov’s Theme George Michael Headshock Le Ruse Time Of Songs Conquest Blunt Ten Gallon Ascot Just Drums Cowbell Sing Back Something In Houston Omaha Hang Them All The Dirty Dirty Insistor Demon Apple
