The thought of Zooey Deschanel being on stage singing was more of a novelty act. The thought of her in a band with M. Ward was absurd. When I saw both on stage, I knew that it was more than an act. Her voice is reminiscent of Patsy Cline and their twangy tunes breathes new air into a music scene that seems to focus on the same thing over and over. The group (this was before I saw them and listened to the album 800 times) I thought was going to be panned and fold like a cheap suit. I dare you to look up any of their reviews, and I’m sure that they’re 99% positive.
