I thought I had left my jam band days behind. I was wrong. Way wrong. The guys in Battles have Hollywood looks. Each member looks like somebody in a movie or a cartoon. For example, one of the keyboardists/guitarists looks like a character from a Wes Anderson movie, the drummer looks like Shooter McGavin, the other guitarist looks like George Michael from Arrested Development all grown up, and the last guitarist/keyboardist has the hair of Sideshow Bob if he were real.The band was already sweating during the middle of the first song. I hadn’t seen that kind of sweating since I saw Robert Blake on Court TV. The band was very improvisational and relished every moment when one band member decided to take a new direction. They all fed off of each other and this was one of the most exciting and innovative shows that I have seen all year. Do not miss them!
