As far as triumphant returns go, I would chalk this one up there as one of the best. The last time the guys were in town, it was to play a small intimate in store performance at Twist and Shout, after their successful opening slot at the Fillmore. Four months later, 80 billion spins on local rock station KTCL, tons of exposure on MTV, and heatseeker album Carnavas has been blowing up like Lindsay Lohan’s rap sheet. The only downfall of the show was the horrible banter, but I’m willing to overlook that due to the precise , yet fuzzy performance overall.

If only Alex Brown Church’s (from Sea Wolf) flannel shirt could speak, I’m sure it would have a tale that would be worthy of having its own show. I was blown away by the stand up bass throughout the entire set and Alex’s voice and guitar leaning heavily influence by an early 80′s Tom Petty. The kids seemed very comfortable on stage, playing host to a crowd of 1000 screeching fans, compared to the cozy intimate set they played not too long ago at the Larimer Lounge.

One thing they don’t tell you about Miss Clark is how delicate and porcelain like she is on stage. She looked so fragile, but she handled the guitar better than any other guy I have ever seen on stage. She has a voice to match and had everybody in the crowd under her spell. Not only satisfied with the guitar, she plays piano as well. She is one of the best all around musicians out there. She also plays one mean hand machine!
