I don’t know if you remember this, but when I was a kid, I remember playing Pole Position in all of its 8 bit glory when my mom would fill up her tank and they would always have the coolest video games. For at least one year, the one by my house had Pole Position and Spy Hunter. Best games ever. Envelope’s new video for Smoke in the Desert resembles Pole Position, and it’s soooo glorious. The idea for the video is full of irony, much like the sound of their music. I get lost in the sound of the angular guitars , happy claps, and gorgeous synthesizers.
