Basia Bulat

I guess it’s comforting for me to know that Canada is not having a shortage of songbirds by any means (case and point, please see Emily Haines, Feist, and on and on). I don’t like using old skool singer/musicians to make comparisons, but I can’t think of anybody else. Basia’s voice has a Joni-esque like quality that is unique because they both have a quiver or a tremble in their voice when they sing. Her album, Oh, My Darling, was produced Howard Bilerman of Arcade Fire fame, Godspeed You Black Emperor! fame. I’m sold on that alone. Check her out.
