Day 4
Deerhunter
Todd P’s
Ms. Bea’s

Phewww….. This is the last SXSW review. I swear. Let me describe the scene. Before arriving at Ms. Bea’s, we stopped at the HEB and picked up 3 12-packs of Tecate. We had scouted the scene earlier, and instead of paying $4 a beer, we were tailgating behind the gazebo and drinking our store bought beer to accompany the real cheap Little Caesar’s Pizza we purchased up the street. It was heavenly . We kicked it in the parking lot right behind Ms. Bea’s and used it as a meeting place. The corner of 7th and Medina was crackin. Kids were skateboarding, getting elevated, drinking, socializing and I can’t think of a better way to have spent our last night in Austin. It was our second to last party, but we ended up at some Paste Magazine party later, but it was rather tame compared to Ms. Bea’s. Okay, now to the music. Deerhunter, I’m positive would have sounded great any other night, but I heard the lead singer say that they were tired, there were mic problems, and I’m sure the group was playing their 80th show of the day. That said, they played a short set, vocals were coming in and out, but the psychedelic guitars were just as fuzzy. A wonderful way to finish the evening at Ms. Bea’s. Please take notice of the little room that these performers were given to play in while the crowd just swarmed them…..
