The Spinto Band

Everybody’s favorite Delawareans(is that even right?) came to Denver to an unsuspecting crowd not knowing what was on tap. Let’s clear things up for the record. The show was mildly tainted as a result of a heckler that was standing right in front of me. He kept on chanting , “put the Changes back on,” and though, this was funny the first time, the little pansy kept on yelling that after every song. I think he felt the heat of the crowd or the stare of a million eyes and decided to bounce. Now to the music. I had dismissed the Spinto Band from a previous performance that I had caught at SXSW last year at a Diesel party. Granted, they were sandwiched between some top acts, Voxtrot and Editors, but this time around, things were a little different. The guys don’t look a day over 19 and if you look at the last picture, one of the kids has X’s on his hand to denote that he’s under 21. That’s neither here nor there, but a simple observation. What these guys don’t have in age, they made up for in experience and their ability to persevere in very difficult situations (i.e the heckler.) I was extremely amused by their schoolboy antics on stage and I did enjoy the fact that the band exchanged lead vocals on several tunes. It definitely brought a new element to the show.
