LCD Soundsystem Remixed
The remixer is getting remixed. It’s Friday (it’s early, but still) and I leave out of the country, I’m excited!!! I have these butterflies in my stomach, much like when you were 10 year old going on the BIG roller coaster and the train cart is slowly inching its way to the top and the anticipation is slowly eating at you while the moment of exhiliration would meet you at the bottom of the tracks…. These two cuts were the ones that stood out most, and keep in mind that these songs didn’t need much chopping or screwing…

Art Brut – It’s a Bit Complicated
I listened to some of the teaser of this album, and it’s vintage Art Brut. These guys don’t have to change. Is it too early to pencil in Eddie Argos for President? The album, It’s a Bit Complicated will be released Jun. 26th…

Coconut Records
Max Fleischer is back. No more Phantom Planet to hide behind, no more drum set. This is the real deal. The music is breezy, easy, and I wouldn’t expect for the album to change many lives. Everything about the album is great, it’s very palatable, but the lyrics are a little on the remedial side, but this album isn’t about that, it’s sooo much more. You find Mister Schwartzman to be playful and it’s quite enjoyable to listen to him explore the different interests that have influenced the album so profoundly.
FULL LENGTH ALBUM AVAILABLE ON iTUNES NOW!! IN STORES SUMMER 2007

Kenna-The Black Goodbye EP
It seems that anytime somebody mentions this guy, it’s one of two things. He’s the son of Ethiopian parents, and two, his story is told in the book
Blink by Malcolm Gladwell. I must admit, that I too learned about Kenna a couple of years ago by reading the aforementioned book and also, the fact that he opened up for Dave Gahan on his solo tour a few years back. You’ve heard his music, I’m almost sure of it, unless you don’t own a television. The inability of music marketers by dropping the ball, and not knowing what niche Kenna would carve, spelled immediate disaster for his first album. Fast forward a couple of years and here we are, I caught him at
SXSW and was a bit upset by the fact that I caught the end of his set.
Chapter 5: Kenna’s Dilemma: The Right — and Wrong — Way to Ask People What They Want
This chapter focuses on another part of the decision-making process — the context in which a judgment is made. Gladwell employs a number of examples and case studies, most of which are drawn from the world of marketing and focus groups. His chief contention is that in many situations, people will make the wrong snap judgment if they are being asked to decide something that is outside of their range of knowledge. Also, Gladwell demonstrates that removing a problem from its normal context makes it very difficult for people to make accurate decisions.
In short, he argues that focus groups often fail to return accurate assessments because they both stretch the limits of the participants’ expertise and remove the product assessment decision from the normal context in which it would be made. In two instances that Gladwell cites — evaluations of musician Kenna’s potential for Top 40 radio success and the infamous blind taste tests between Coke and Pepsi — focus groups and experts reached starkly different conclusions in different settings. He asserts that to be effective, market research must match as closely as possible the environment in which the consumption of a product — whether it is rock music or soda — will actually occur.
Snow over Spring Break
Are you kidding me?! It’s snowed over a foot. It’s the last week in March….urghh…the snow has me down a little….but all I could listen to is this-
The scene outside my office….
Air in Denver??!!
I heard from a little bird that some of my favorite Parisians will be hitting making a pit stop in Denver. You can take it with a grain of salt, but if it happens, how sweet would that be?

Bright Eyes -Cassadaga
In what is to believed to have been written in Mr. Saddle Creek’s travels across the land of US of A brings his new album of brilliance to the masses. His new album is pretty flawless and I don’t see this album getting below a 9.2 from Pitchfork. Oh, and the album is being released April 10th and you can buy it here

Thailand-Motorcade
Hype is something that is hard to live up to, then you have Thailand. These group is having praise sung by fellow reputable bloggers,
Ryan and
Miss Jax. I did have some reservations about this release, but when I read that they were all head over heals with these kids from Califas, I figured I would give it a chance. The album has a very Ric Ocasek feel to it in a way that would have him fronting the band and not in a way with him on the production side. There is a heavy emphasis on the synth, grown up angst, and musical bliss. Buy their album from their
Myspace page . Did I mention that it was mastered by Dave Cooley of Silversun Pickups fame. Hmmm…..
