I Have No Shame(No Tengo Vergüenza)
My penchant for cheesy Spanish pop aimed at teens is widely known around these parts. I don’t hide it and it is probably one of my guilty pleasures that I don’t think I would ever want to do away with, ever! RBD ( I think it stands for Rebelde, which translates to, you guessed, Rebel) has the biggest following in the US, Mexico, and everywhere else for that matter. You may have seen them on Telemundo or Univision, but they have a stronger following than the New Kids on the Block , if you can believe that. Fad? Yes. Cheezy lyrics,
check! Scantily clad Mexican chicas, check! Throw in the gratuitous boy band looking guys to balance out the sizzling senoritas, and you have the product of 80 other Mexican Pop acts. The only difference is that this band is coming at a time where kids have 90 outlets to this band, making them very accessible to all of their fans. Plus, I believe that RBD has their own Novela, beat that Backstreet Boys.
The other Pop Star is the lovely Fey. She stands at 5ft even and has been around for a hot minute. She is the equivalent of a Mexican Kylie Minogue, but hotter IMHO. Her album, Faltan Lunas, was released last August, but didn’t get my attention till now when my girlfriend had the radio on the Spanish station.
