Their Mamas-and-the-Papas-have-a-BBQ-with-Wilco stage show is quite a spectacle to behold. Not just your average “put-as-many-musicians-onstage-and-hope-for-the-best” performances, either. In the wake of mega-successes like The Arcade Fire and Broken Social Scene, sprawling imitators that can’t keep it together are becoming all too common. BAS, however, manages the team with aplomb, radiating good vibrations and sunny Cali-pop. Their arrangements are deceptively dense, yet cleverly keep focus on an effortless, infectious and undeniably positive energy.
