Is it wrong to go to a show and when you see the opening up, like the very first of three bands to just KIND OF not pay attention? I mean, seriously, where do you draw the line? When is it ok just to talk to your friends, drink, smoke, or whatever you do? I kind of ran into this dilemna yesterday. I was having my drink, talking to some friends, and I had to stop talking and pay attention to the stage. The group intrigued me. Bands with a fiddle on stage get immediate notice. Whether you want to hate or congratulate, it will ALWAYS get notice. I really got into what they were playing , and kept on asking everybody, “Who are these guys?”
Of course, nobody knew, so I had to go to the door and ask. The doorman obliged and gave a funny look because I didn’t know who they were. Of course, the next obligatory question, “Where are these guys from?” To my surprise , these guys are a local band. very impressive. The lead singer Eugene Brown is from Kentucky and put the outfit together. They list their influences as Bright Eyes, Snow Patrol, Pink Floyd, amongst others. I personally thought they sounded like a very sonic twang sounding U2. You can download their first album here.
