Let’s face it, there really isn’t such a thing as “catalog artists” anymore. While plenty of bands are seemingly thriving, one of the invisible casualties of today’s money and trend-driven music industry are the future Neil Young’s and Pink Floyd’s of the world — the artists who make music because they need to, not to help market their clothing line. Not to sound too lofty, but Denver, Colorado’s VAUX are one of those bands and Beyond Virtue, Beyond Vice is their masterwork.

Movie Review-Marie Antoinette
Sofia Coppola’s latest Period Flick was booed at Cannes this year but received a standing ovation at the end of the viewing. I went in with an open mind. I am a big fan of her work and loved her last two movies, Lost in Translation and Virgin Suicides. I listened to the Soundtrack a dozen times and I was open to the fact that Coppola decided to use New Wave music for Marie Antoinette. The music rocked in all sense of the word, but too bad the movie wasn’t as good as the Soundtrack. The movie crawled for the first hour, with very little dialogue. Jason Schwartzman was hysterical in a very subtle way. I wanted to like the movie SO much, but in the end, I was left with waiting for some type of explanation and walked away with a tub of half eaten popcorn.

Peyton shredded the Denver D for 800 yrds yesterday, or atleast if felt like it. Good rule of thumb, cover Reggie Wayne, he might actually catch some passes and even score a couple of times. The Kooks are here! We’ve been anticipating this for months. They stormed into NYC this week, then LA and San Francisco, and now back to Brooklyn for their sell-out Saturday night show at North Six.
