Meese played last night @ Lannie’s Clocktower for local radio station 99.5 the Mountain. I don’t listen much to local radio, but on the FM dial in Denver, the Mountain is probably the best that Denver has to offer. They promote themselves as the “Album” radio station. I’m not sure if this is accurate, but I believe they play the deeper tracks from great albums that often get dismissed by DJ’s for the obvious hits. I felt bad for both bands last night. The host was ever so awkward and was totally unprepared asking frivolous questions that nobody really cared about, isolating the crowd and the band in the process. The groups took the questions in stride, and much should be said about that. The sound in the Cabaret was intense, the vibe was very intimate , and the decor was intoxicating. Try to think of a old skool brothel with wine colored furniture made of velour. Meese used last night as a rehearsal to their show this Saturday at Red Rocks where they will be opening up for local kewl kids the Fray. I love the dynamic of this band. They are easily one of the most laid back bands I have seen in a while. They take themselves serious, but not too serious. Meese are maturing at an alarming rate, and if they aren’t careful, they could be fighting legions of teenie girls in no time.
