This is kind of a shaft, but I wrote down a list and the list exceeded the amount of days left before Austin City Limits, so from here on, there is going to be a couple of ties. Okkervil River and Nickel Creek also KIND of tread the same waters. They share that same twang feeling and what better place to put those two together than Tejas.
Okkervil River was on everybody’s best of list from last year. “Black Sheep Boy” was def top 5 last year and are one of my favorite Austin bands, and trust me, there are many. They are still under the radar, but that soon will change. IMHO , I think they are probably the best rock twang group out there.
Nickel Creek-There are many reasons to see this group. They come to Colorado literally like 5 times a year. They luv the bluegrass feel here, and all of that will soon stop. They are taking an indefinite hiatus and I don’t want to take a risk, because I have never seen them live. Chris Thile’s performances I have heard are magical, and what is not to like about somebody that cover’s Pavement’s “Spit on a Stranger.” This particular song is off of their first album and reminds of a part of my life when things were a lot simpler.
