Tonight will be my first show at Red Rocks this summer. I missed the Flaming Lips show because I was covering a local music showcase, but this has been well worth the wait. Ben Harper has forever changed the way I listen to music. My friend Josh had all of his CDs in his infinite wisdom and hooked up up a couple of years ago. When I first listened to him I was right out of High School and I had never listened to anything as profound as Ben Harper. His lyrics were full of conviction and strife. He was always struggling with his inner demons. He was raised in a very gospel childhood, and I could identify with that. He also sang of the volatility that is known as life. As for Damien Marley, all I know is Jamrock and that he is the son of Bob Marley. I will be getting off of work early and I plan on tailgating. If anybody else is going you should definitely find me down at the parking lot. “Glory & Consequence” is my favorite Ben Harper song, and has gotten me through many a tough time… And till this day, I still feel that Ben Harper is part Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, and Jimmi Hendrix…
