Mew-Last Night the Ogden Theatre
Seldom do I have dedicate an entire post to the opening band. I feel that I would be doing an injustice if I didn’t do it this time w/Mew. Mew opened up for Bloc Party last night to a very packed theatre, just as packed for the headlining act. Mew’s music is the kind that I associate from a happy part in my life where the music was the counteract to movies i.e. “The Neverending Story” or “Legend” where it seemed to have the answer to all of life’s trivial problems. The fantasy and mysticism behind the lead singer’s voice grappled the very unassuming crowd into this hypnotic stare that only allowed for the bobbing of heads and the occasional foot stomp. It sounded so beautiful , so beautiful in fact that during one or two songs it made me ecstatic to be alive and had me choked up for a second, Im not sure if it was the booze or a culmination of things, but I can say that their sound is tight and if they come to your hometown, I strongly urge you to make a way to their show.
