Denver Underground Music Showase Part III of III – The Photo Atlas

This band is the one that I had been eagerly anticipating all day because of pure rumour and hearsay. On their myspace page they have At the Drive In, Fugazi, and The Police as favorites. Not to mention that Alan (lead singer) had a Death from Above 1979 on his guitar, so I had a vauge idea I was going to enjoy myself. From start to finish their set was incredibly tight and did not show any sign of retreat because they had forced all in attendance into submission. The great thing is that you can tell the guys are having fun. Picture an At the Drive In where Cedric (lead singer) doesn’t take himself so serious and playing the hell out of the guitar instead of prancing around the stage. I can’t make up my mind of they are a more upeat version of And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead or At the Drive In because his voice at times did sound like Conrads (lead singer of Trail of Dead). I guess it’s pretty trivial at this point, although, something worth noting is that it’s a complete toss up for best band at the Showcase this year between Constellations and Photo Atlas from what I was able to see. I missed a vast majority but I was very pleased from what I saw. Lesson I learned from this experience is that you must cultivate your garden by supporting more local music, who knew local music ist rad!!

and they are on tour, so you should def catch them if they come to your hood!!!
