Summertime Cutz
In what has been a Summer influenced by dancehall music/reggaeton/ and reggae comes the new release from up and comer Elan. Elan has been fronting the Wailers as Bob’s voice and has suprisingly enough done a great job on cover duties. He is following a path similar to that of Matisyahu and is coming out with his full length released earlier this month. Several big names have lent their lyrical talents, Gwen Stefani, Assasin, and Cutty Ranks. To me reggae is always a good soundtrack for the summer.

Reggae singer Elan Atias, who as a solo performer goes by his first name, was born in Los Angeles to an Israeli/Moroccan father and Jewish Native American mother. After a record executive told Elan — who was not yet 20 at the time — that he’d like to hear more of his music, the singer found a nearby studio where he could record some material. Looking to complete his band, he learned that Wailers guitarist Al Anderson lived close by. Anderson was impressed by the similarity between Elan’s and Bob Marley‘s voices, and eventually recruited the Los Angelean to replace Junior Marvin as the Wailers‘ lead singer. Elan stayed with the group from 1997 to 1999, after which he decided to pursue his own solo career, recording an album with Sire-London that was never released. However, the sessions did create “Dreams Come True,” which was included on 2000’s Sex and the City soundtrack, and in 2003 a cover of Roxy Music‘s “Slave to Love” appeared on the soundtrack to the film 50 First Dates. That same year Elan and friend and producer Tony Kanal (of No Doubt) started writing and recording songs. Kanal took the finished product to Interscope, which signed Elan and released his debut album, Together as One, in 2006
hola che!! de nuevo dando vueltas por aca.. con respecto a lo que me preguntaste, no sabria responderte con exactitud cuando tendrias q ahorrar, depende de cuanto tiempo vayas a quedarte y en que lugar y como me posteo una amiga en el blog: aca sale todo mas barato, mientras no te engañen y al final termines gastando el doble de lo que deberias, simplemente x ser de afuera!! (si tenes en cuenta que a los mismos argentinos nos suelen cagar..!) lo que te digo no es de mala onda ni nada, simplemente para advertirte y darte una idea de como pueden ser las cosas aca. Fuera de eso, la podes pasar muy bien en el pais…!! aaah y lo de malkmus que va a estar en cordoba!! gracias por avisarme no tenia ni idea!! aunq cordoba me queda algo lejos de donde vivo, voy a ver que hago. bueno amigo, aca ya es algo tarde, te voy dejando que tengo que tengo que estar bien descansada para el partido de mañana contra alemania!!!!! tengo muchos nervios, ojala podamos ganarles!!!!!! una vez mas te saludo, mucha suerte!!
