The Starlight Mints/Dios Malos/The Octopus Project last night at the Larimer Lounge…..

I’m a little upset at myself. Last night I went and saw this show and got to Larimer Lounge 10 minutes before the Starlight Mints. That means I missed the first 2 acts and I only have myself to blame. I got sucked into the OC finale vortex and before I knew it, I had already missed probably the best part of the show. Marissa is gone 🙁 . No more Coop. She has left the show in dramatic fashion. The car chase scene was a little much, but it’s Ryan Atwood we’re talking about, nothing is normal w/this guy. Marissa is being replaced by her younger, hotter, and mischievous sister Katelynn (sp). So there is going to be lots of changes next year, but we shall see. Overall it was aight, nothing spectacular. One of the funnier moments was finding out that Taylor, the hot nerdy overachiever was tag teamed by her Korean boyfriend and his friend, hahahahaha, they pulled a train on her ass, hahahahaha!!!!!

One of the openers from last night was The Octopus Project which are an instrumental/noise/electronic band from Austin that I caught this year and was kind of hoping to see them again. They are very upandcoming and were invited to play Coachella this year. I spoke with them briefly and asked about their escapade to the Sahara Desert/Indio which is where Coachella takes place and they said that the coolest thing they saw while at Coachella was Daft Punk. I was soooo jealous because that was one of 2 reasons I wanted to go this year. Oh well, and I missed Dios Malos for the umpteenth time. I guess it’s not in the cards to catch these guys because everytime I attempt to see them, something happens or somebody shits the bed. The Starlight Mints were alright, I guess I’m not too familiar with their material, but I do know that they had this huge LCD projection during their entire show that was kinda of cool. They had this weird sugar 60’s pop band going for them ala Apples in Stereo.
