Mortality

Lately I have been having these moments of mortality where I think of death constantly. Not how I will die so much, but mostly of the act of death. After that, I started thinking, I wonder what music they would play at my funeral, and instead of leaving that to chance, I started thinking of what kind of playlist I would want played at my funeral. So I jotted down enough music for one cd (80 mins). I had a tough time, thinking of what music defined certain times in my life. Some of it is really cheesy, but it would sum up my life up until this point.

new order ceremony
the cure just like heaven
depeche mode enjoy the silence
talking heads heaven or home (naive sweet melody)
duran duran come undone
the outfield your love
the beatles all you need is love
ben harper glory and consequence
whiskeytown avenues
broken social scene anthems for a 17 year old girl
arcade fire neighborhood #1 (tunnels) ****cliche i know, but what am i going to do
radiohead blackstar
pavement father to a sister of thought
sigur ros NijoSnaveLin
fobia dios bendiga los gusanos
my morning jacket knot comes loose
guns n’ roses don’t cry/november rain
u2 running to standstill
counting crows round here
the church under the milky way

American Dreamz

Newest of the social satires to poke fun at our hedonistic society brought to you by the creators of ” American Pie” proved to kind of funny. It just felt like it was reaching a lot of the time, kind of making you sort of force chuckle because your were anticipating this rather funny moment in the movie, only to find out that the funny part had passed and kind of left just sitting there. It’s safe to say that Mandy Moore has played herself in every movie role she has had. Hugh Grant played yet another smarmy character, kind of going out on a limb there, huh Hugh…. The movie had its moments but nearly enough as much as I was expecting.

Sasha & Lee Burridge Vinyl – 2 months later
Sasha decided to grant the good people at Vinyl a pretty good gift, he decided to play a 4 hour set to make up for his quasi no-show from 2 months ago. I remember that night because it was 11 degrees below 0 that night. No snow, just really flippin’ cold. from 10-1 am sasha played by himself on the main floor, and Lee Burridge played the same shift, only downstairs. Now keep in mind we had left Editors a little early to see some of the Sasha spectacle that would ensue. No real suprises when we showed up, Sasha playing routine slow trance. We ventured downstairs to find an exuberant Lee Burridge throwin some mad flava for all the kids wanting something a little harder. After a while, I started to get antsy so I just did a little people gazing, and stumbled upon this crazy photo shoot out of a Victoria’s Secret catalog. And if I don’t say so myself, I thought it to be bloody brilliant. The tag team went on without a hitch at 1. I think that they complimented each other well, but at any given moment you always knew who was teacher and pupil. Towards the end, we noticed a familar track that Sasha threw on that tried to hook the crowd, and it was none other than “Camera” by Editors which we just saw 3 hours prior. We were pretty tripped out, but the remix was a total surprise. It’s a Junkie XL remix and just ended the night in perfect fashion.
Here is a link for a similar Sasha Set

Editors/Stellastar

I got to the show kind of mid through the Stellastar* set and much to my surprise, they sounded thunderous upon entering the Theatre. Thunderous in the way that they rocked my face off, because I had automatically written Stellastar* off because their last album was below subpar. All of their old stuff sounded great. Editors took the stage and swept the crowd collectively off of their feet. For tonight, they sounded like they were more in their element than their in store performance at Tower. Tonight they would not be denied a ticket to ride. Their was a pretty packed house, not sure of a sell out due to the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s show, but it was pretty busy. I finally met the lovely Kim from Kaffeine Buzz. She was very delightful and hope to see her at more shows.

Editors Tonight @ Bluebird

+

Sasha and Lee Burridge @ Vinyl = A busy Fly-day night!!!

Editors are playing tonight at the Bluebird Theatre alongside with Stellastar*. The crazy thing is that not too long ago, Stellastar* played the Larimer Lounge, and playing their support was noneother than the Killers. Funny how a lot changes in a couple of years, so goes, and tonight should prove to be one of those nights were the double bill should be very exciting . After this show, I have to skidaddle on over to Vinyl where Sasha will make up for his last performance 2 months ago where he showed up in the last 4 minutes to say he wasn’t going to play, so here’s to making up for lost time buddy.
